Alim Course

The Islamic ‘Aalim’ course is designed to embed within students the principles of Islamic Theology and Jurisprudence. At the end of the course, students are expected to have gained an in-depth understanding of the meaning, interpretation and commentary of the Holy Quraan, narrations of Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and other sources of Islamic knowledge. Students will also be proficient in oratory skills in English and Urdu, and have a professional standard of understanding in classical Arabic.
The Islamic ‘Aalim’ course in Theology and Jurisprudence is a 6-year course and taught through the coverage of numerous books and discourses outlined in the table overleaf.

The assessment of progress and attainment in the Islamic ‘Aalim’ course is undertaken through written and oral examinations at half-year (formative assessment to determine progress) and full-year (Summative assessment to determine progression to new year). Students are also assessed through regular oratory exercises, where students are expected to deliver speeches and talks on contemporary issues in light of learnt Islamic principles. Good attendance is also a requirement for students to progress to the next year of the course.
