Amenities, timetables, boarding and extra-curricular activities at Jamiatul Ilm Wal Huda.
Jamiah provides students with all amenities, security and privacy to ensure a comfortable learning environment. We focus on Islamic education, secular education and spirituality, nurturing students to become effective leaders and exemplary citizens.

Residential Students — Additional Hours
Boarding students follow the day timetable above, plus the following additional times.

Boarding Life
Boarding students share cosy rooms with fellow students, each with their own bed and lockable locker for personal belongings. A dedicated boarding team led by senior staff ensures every student feels safe, supported and at home.
🏠 Boarding Area
Under-16 students share the attic floor with rooms of up to 5 students. Over-16 students have their own dedicated floor with rooms of up to 9 students.
👥 Boarding Team
A dedicated team of senior staff and boarding assistants are available around the clock to help with any concerns, problems or just a friendly chat.
📞 Phoning Home
Students can call home using the free student landline 7 days a week. Simple mobile phones (no internet/camera) are also permitted with supervised usage times.
🏥 Medical Care
All boarding students are registered with a local doctor. Jamiah has a medical room where students can rest if feeling unwell. Staff are informed immediately of any illness.
👕 Laundry Service
Jamiah has its own laundrette — wash and dry for just £2.50. Self-service machines are accessible during break times. Alternatively, take clothes home on visits.
🏪 Tuck Shop & Deliveries
The on-site tuck shop stocks drinks, snacks, ice cream and stationery. Parents can also order supermarket deliveries directly to Jamiah.
🏡 Home Visits
Students can go home every two weeks (or weekly with prior permission) from Saturday lunchtime, returning Sunday by 9:00 pm. Sign-out procedures apply.
🛏️ Room Personalisation
Boarders are encouraged to personalise their rooms and boarding areas. Many spaces have been splendidly decorated by the students themselves.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Clubs generally run in evenings and weekends, ideal for boarding students. Non-boarding students can also join with availability.

Every Saturday — entertainment and social skills.

Supervised internet access for study and social purposes.
⚽ Multi Use Games Area
Football, basketball, cricket and more.
🏊 Swimming Club
Dedicated slots at a local swimming centre (subject to demand).
🎨 Art Club
Develop creative skills with guided art sessions.
📖 Qur’an & Poetry Club
Build creativity through Qur’an recitation, nasheeds and poetry.
🎤 Public Speaking & Anjuman
Every Saturday — practice public speaking, debate and perform at the Grand Anjuman on Fridays.
🏓 Table Tennis
Recreational table tennis sessions.
☕ Café & Restaurant Club
Visits to local cafés and restaurants for social enrichment.
🚶 Town Centre & Library Visits
Supervised walks to Blackburn town centre and library visits to build independence.
💬 Discussion Club
Students freely express views and ideas about education in a safe environment.

Additional sports activities at local sports facilities.
