Overview
What is the Aalimiyah Course?
The Aalimiyah Course is a specialised Islamic education programme designed to offer in-depth understanding of the Holy Qur’an, blessed traditions of our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, jurisprudence, exegesis, Arabic language and much more.
This comprehensive course nurtures a strong spiritual connection and ethical foundation. It fosters critical thinking and analytical skills, empowering students to interpret and apply noble Islamic teachings effectively.
At the end of the course, students are expected to have gained an in-depth understanding of the meaning, interpretation and commentary of the Holy Qur’an, narrations of Rasulullah ﷺ and other sources of Islamic knowledge. Students will also be proficient in oratory skills in English and Urdu, and have a professional standard of understanding in classical Arabic.

Qur’anic Studies
Recitation with Tajweed, memorisation, translation and in-depth exegesis (Tafseer)
Hadith Studies
Study of blessed Ahadith, including authentication, interpretation and application
Islamic Jurisprudence
Islamic legal rulings regarding worship, family law, transactions and methodologies of deriving rulings
Islamic Theology
Understanding of Aqeedah — concepts related to faith, creed and spirituality
Arabic Language
Syntax (Nahw), morphology (Sarf), grammar and classical Arabic proficiency
History & Logic
Islamic history, Seerah of the Prophet ﷺ, logic and philosophy within an Islamic framework

6-year core course, with an optional 2-year Urdu language foundation (8 years total)

Exams Per Year
Daily assessment plus 3 written examinations throughout the year to track progress
The first two years (Urdu language) are not compulsory for students who wish to complete the full Alim class. The course is designed for both pre-16 and post-16 students.
Classes run daily from 8:00am to 7:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Specialisation
Specialising in Qira’ah
Revelation of the Quran was a source of guidance, inspiration and mercy. The Quran frequently visits the ruling of easiness and decreasing the burden upon the human race. This message extends to recitation — according to certain scholars, the revelation of the Quran was done upon seven different formats and letters as informed in the Hadeeth.
As a result of these different formats, the scholars of Qira’ah of the past passed on the different possible methods of recitation which gained acceptance by the scholars of knowledge and the Ummah. These methods all stem back to the time of the Prophet ﷺ and the companions, where different tribes were allowed to recite the verses in slightly different methods, all conveying the correct message of the Quran.
From amongst the different methods were the 7 mutawatir (universally accepted) methods, and a further 3 — totalling 10 mutawatir methods. These refer back to 10 Imams of Qira’ah, each with two famous narrators.
